We have thus entered a time, measured by the clock of nuclear-fission and thermonuclear power’s development, when the long history of the domination over the land-masses of the planet by actually or implicitly imperial maritime powers, is no longer an acceptable practical proposition. Instead, the science-driven, capital-intensive mode of development of the basic economic infrastructure and standard of living of the populations, will dominate any successful form of civilized development of relations among the sovereign nations of the planet.
— Lyndon LaRouche, from “The World’s Political Map Changes: Mendeleyev Would Have Agreed,” March 13, 2007
(This short paper was presented on April 24, 2007, to the Moscow conference on “A Transcontinental Eurasia-America Transport Link via the Bering Strait.” The meeting was sponsored by the Russian Academy of Sciences Council for the Study of Productive Forces.)

Despite all attempts by the British Royals and their lackeys to continue their genocidal “divide and conquer” stranglehold on the world, the vast majority of the world’s people now live in nations that are in various stages of self-liberation.
At the forefront of this movement is China, which responded to the Century of Humiliation, including the British Opium Wars and the Japanese invasions, with a commitment to eradicate extreme poverty within China, a feat accomplished in 2020, and the Belt and Road Initiative, launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013, which could eradicate poverty worldwide.
The United States, which may be credited with starting the anti-colonial trend with its successful 1776 Declaration of Independence, lost its way after the death of President Franklin Roosevelt, and instead dropped nuclear bombs on Japan under Anglophile President Harry S. Truman, who then colluded with the British drunk Winston Churchill to launch the Cold War against Russia (then the U.S.S.R.). After the British and their American Intelligence Agency dupes assassinated President John F. Kennedy and his younger brother Robert, not to mention carrying out the murders of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (about which the truth has still not been revealed), the United States plunged into an era of war and cultural degeneracy, typified by the “post-industrial” economic model and the “rock, drug, sex counterculture.”

In 2016 and again in 2024, President Donald J. Trump came into the White House atop a wave called, “Make America Great Again.” What does that actually mean? Is it a colonial idea of “greater than everyone else, because we have the power to crush you”? Or could Americans be mobilized to have an actual American understanding of this, meaning that our greatness comes only from a commitment to the shared humanity of mankind as a whole? “We will be ‘great’ because you are ‘great,’” as in American System economist Henry Carey’s “Harmony of Interest?”
If Russia builds a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia, should we impose 500% tariffs on Ethiopia, and allow the CIA and MI6 to assassinate their engineers? Or should we instead collaborate with Russia and China to electrify the continent of Africa as a whole, which will soon have 2.5 billion inhabitants, who could become a massive market for American-produced goods? Which option presents a brighter future for your children’s grandchildren?
Apparently a few months before the August, 15, 2025 Putin-Trump Alaska Summit, feasibility studies were begun on the Bering Strait Tunnel, a long-discussed project that would connect Alaska and Russia across the Bering Strait at a point only about 50 miles across, conveniently broken by the Diomedes Islands in the middle, which would allow ventilation tunnels to the surface.

Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, who was present at the Alaska Summit has launched a social media campaign for the project, which U.S. President Donald Trump has described as “interesting.”
According to historian and LaRouche collaborator Anton Chaitkin, at an 1869 send-off dinner given by Henry Carey for former Pennsylvania Governor Andrew Curtin, who was to become President Ulysses Grant’s Ambassador to Russia, General Joshua T. Owen said, “We have discovered that true glory is only to be attained through the performance of great deeds, which tend to advance civilization, [and] develop the material wealth of people.” He added, by participating in “girdling the globe with a tramway of iron,” Russia itself would be strengthened and unified. The allies could “outflank the movement made by France and England, for predominance in the East through the Suez Canal; and America and Russia can dictate peace to the world.”
Tune in later today for this historic event.
