IS LULA BRAZIL’S FDR?

That is the worried headline on a short article published in London’s Economist magazine today, as campaigning for the October 4 presidential election got underway. “Our poll tracker puts the 80-year old incumbent president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in the lead,” the Economist confessed.

“If Lula emerges victorious, he would become one of just a handful of presidents—including Franklin Roosevelt—to have won four free and fair elections.”

British and American elites are hell bent on stopping a Lula victory, but they don’t have full confidence in his main challenger, Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro.

They suggest: “Many voters are dissatisfied with the leading candidates. A dark horse could emerge on the right to challenge Mr. Bolsonaro. Keep an eye out on Renan Santos, a social-media-savvy millennial outsider. If no candidate wins a majority in the first round, a run-off will be held on October 25th.”

Santos is actually an ultra-liberal Atlas Foundation concoction who models himself of Argentine president Javier Milei, and whose pro-monarchical MBL party—today rebranded as the Mission Party for his current candidacy—was created out of the bowels of the British Empire’s fascist “Austrian School of economics” associated with the infamous Von Mises and Von Hayek, as EIR has previously documented.
