CAN MANKIND GROW UP IN TWO WEEKS?

A mere 90 minutes before President Trump‘s 8 PM Tuesday night deadline, the president announced on Truth Social that as a result of conversations with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, pending Iran’s agreement to immediately open the Strait of Hormuz, a two week ceasefire would be in effect during which the bombing would cease and the Strait would remain open. President Trump added that he had received a 10-point proposal from Iran which he considers a workable basis on which to negotiate.

According to the New York Times, besides the intense work done by the Pakistani government, China made a crucial intervention at the last minute to secure the agreement, which has been confirmed by both Iran and Israel.

The question on every sane person‘s mind is, how do we ensure that we do not arrive at the same crisis in a few days or two weeks from now?

In the Monday, April 6, EIR Round Table, “A Dialogue of Civilizations. Is There Still Time To Prevent the War Against Iran From Escalating Into a Global Nuclear Conflict?” Helga Zepp-LaRouche repeatedly asked the participants to consider the implications of a Regional Oasis Plan for Southwest Asia. This was not a rhetorical question, but a question designed to evoke in the minds of the participants, each of whom is a leader, a vision for where mankind needs to go, either immediately or in the process of rebuilding from a terrible disaster

The extended Oasis Plan as broadly outlined by Zepp-LaRouche in her opening statement is exactly what is needed at this crucial moment. Peace is never the absence of war, but is secured through a shared mission of humanity.

How do we get from here to there?

In response to President Trump’s profanity-laden Easter message, in which he called for bombing civilian infrastructure, namely, power plants, and bridges, and his post of April 6 announcing that “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again…” members of Congress have joined retired military experts in calling for the invocation of the 25th Amendment. Political pundits like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted the war of aggression in podcasts and social media.

It is certainly the case that President Trump is mentally unstable, and has committed the crime of waging a war of aggression, and either one alone would warrant removal from office. But when a majority of the members of Congress have already voted not to even be responsible for the constitutionally mandated task of determining when to declare war, it’s unlikely that his, or his and Hegseth’s removal would solve the problem, which goes beyond individuals to our culture itself.

General Douglas MacArthur had called for a “spiritual recrudescence” after witnessing the devastating power of the nuclear bomb, to bring humanity’s spiritual character into harmony with the tremendous advances of science.

Two hundred thousand miles away from the surface of the Earth, four astronauts have flown around the Moon. They have a much healthier perspective, recognizing that in the scale of the galaxy, our planet Earth is very small, making war an absurdity. Just before the shuttle lost communication as it traveled behind the Moon for 40 minutes, Victor Glover, the first Caribbean-American astronaut to travel into lunar orbit, said:

“Thank you, to all of you, for allowing us the immense privilege to be on this journey together. It’s quite amazing. And as we go on this journey, thinking about the NASA mission to explore the unknown in air and space, to innovate for the benefit of humanity, and to inspire the world through discovery. And as you’ve gone along on this journey with us, hopefully we’re doing just those things.“

“And as we get close to the nearest point to the Moon and farthest point from Earth, as we continue to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos, I would like to remind you of one of the most important mysteries there on Earth, and that’s love. Christ said, in response to what was the greatest command, that it was ‘to love God with all that you are.’ And he also, being a great teacher, said the second is equal to it, and that is ‘to love your neighbor as yourself.’ And so as we prepare to go out of radio communication, we’re still going to feel your love from Earth. And to all of you down there on Earth, and around Earth, we love you from the Moon.”

If we imagine the Earth as seen from the perspective of the Moon, a tiny blue orb in a vast universe, we quickly realize the foolishness of trying to bring destruction to any part of our planet. When we realize the creative potential of the human species to do good, we can see the evil of the billionaire Epstein class in bold relief, and in that moment, find the strength and resolve to defeat it.
