The Department of Employment and Labour invites workers, employers, organised business, labour organisations and members of the public to participate in the review of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for 2027 by submitting their views through a public survey and written submissions.
The public participation process is guided by the National Minimum Wage Act, No. 9 of 2018, which aims to advance economic development and social justice by improving the wages of the lowest-paid workers while protecting them from unreasonably low wages.
In terms of the Act, the National Minimum Wage Commission is responsible for reviewing the national minimum wage and making recommendations to preserve its value. As part of this process, the Department is gathering public inputs to help inform the Commission’s recommendations on a possible adjustment to the national minimum wage for 2027.
The Department encourages all stakeholders, including workers, employers, business owners and interested members of the public, to share their views. Participants may complete the online survey, submit a formal written submission, or do both.

The Department emphasised that public participation is an important part of ensuring that the national minimum wage continues to support both workers and businesses while contributing to sustainable economic growth and social justice.
The public consultation process will close on 04 September 2026.
The Department encourages all interested parties to take part and make their voices heard before the closing date.
