Two foreign nationals are due to appear in the Kuilsriver Magistrate’s Court today following an abalone seizure in Brackenfell.
According to police spokesperson C. Van Wyk, a 49-year-old Chinese national and a 36-year-old Tanzanian national were arrested after law enforcement confiscated a large quantity of abalone during an operation in the area.
The suspects face charges of illegal possession and dealing in abalone, a protected marine species.
Authorities say crackdowns on abalone poaching syndicates in the Western Cape will continue.
