The China South Africa Youth Federation welcomes with deep appreciation and sincere admiration the historic decision by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, under the visionary and principled leadership of His Excellency President Xi Jinping, to extend zero tariff treatment to African countries with diplomatic relations with China.

This decision stands as a defining moment in the evolution of Africa China economic cooperation. It is not merely a trade policy adjustment, but a bold and deliberate act of solidarity that reflects China’s enduring commitment to fairness, openness, and shared development.

At a time when sections of the global economy are turning inward, characterised by protectionism and unequal barriers to entry, China has once again chosen the path of cooperation, inclusion, and partnership. This approach, championed consistently by His Excellency President Xi Jinping, affirms a clear principle: that development must be shared, and that the growth of one region must contribute to the advancement of others.

The Federation recognises this initiative as a practical and powerful expression of the vision to build an all-weather China Africa community with a shared future. It reflects a model of international engagement grounded in mutual respect, sincerity, real results, and long-term partnership.

For South Africa and the African continent, this development carries immediate and far-reaching significance. It expands access to one of the world’s largest and most dynamic consumer markets, creating new opportunities for African exports across agriculture, manufacturing, beneficiation, and emerging industries.
For young people, the implications are direct and tangible.

The removal of tariff barriers creates real pathways for youth led enterprises to enter global markets with greater competitiveness. It enables young farmers to export produce with improved margins. It gives young manufacturers the opportunity to scale production beyond domestic limits. It allows digital entrepreneurs and innovators to connect their ideas to a broader marketplace.

This initiative transforms aspiration into access. It creates the conditions for job creation, skills development, and enterprise growth driven by young people themselves. It strengthens the foundation for industrial participation by youth, not as observers, but as active contributors to economic transformation.

For many young South Africans and Africans, the global economy has often felt distant and inaccessible. This decision brings it closer. It signals that there is space for African youth to participate, to produce, and to compete with confidence.

The China South Africa Youth Federation further acknowledges the consistency of His Excellency President Xi Jinping’s leadership in advancing Africa China relations to their highest level in history. Under his guidance, cooperation between China and Africa has moved beyond declarations into practical programmes that deliver measurable benefits to ordinary people.

This initiative reinforces China’s position not only as a major global economic actor, but as a trusted partner of Africa, committed to a future of shared growth, mutual prosperity, and collective progress. At a time of global uncertainty, China’s decision sends a clear and principled message in support of open markets, equitable development, and genuine partnership among nations of the Global South.

The Federation calls upon African governments, industry, and youth formations to respond with urgency and strategic intent. This includes strengthening export readiness, improving standards and quality, investing in productive capacity, and ensuring that young people are placed at the centre of trade and industrial development.

The China South Africa Youth Federation stands ready to play its role in this moment. We will mobilise young people, strengthen dialogue, and facilitate linkages between youth enterprises and opportunities emerging from this framework, ensuring that its impact is felt not in policy documents alone, but in communities, businesses, and livelihoods across our continent.

We extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency President Xi Jinping for his steadfast leadership, his clarity of vision, and his unwavering commitment to a future in which Africa and China rise together.
