In Russian President Vladimir Putin’s interview with Pavel Zarubin for the Kremlin TV site on Saturday, he certainly made clear that he understood that the war aiming to “collapse” Russia’s economy is a war organized and intended by the nations of NATO; in other words, that it can become a world war in which Russia’s sovereign existence will be at stake.
The overall goal is to bring Russia to collapse, “something they have long dreamed of and constantly talk about,” Putin said, and Russia’s determination will not allow it. It rather turns the attacks back upon the war planners and their proxy, Ukraine.
The Russian decision to withdraw its well-known ambassador, Andrei Kelin, from London, without naming a replacement, is clear evidence that Putin’s government knows which Western government is straining now for that Russian collapse which it dreams of, and willing to risk a wider NATO-Russia war in chasing that desire.
In the willingness of Moscow to invite the Catholic Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher to Moscow for meetings and discussions, there is openness to a peace initiative which could emerge from the Vatican, as the Schiller Institute has joined with many other prominent advocates of peace to ask from Pope Leo XIV.
It is interesting that a photo has appeared now from old Pax Christi files, of the same Pope, much younger, demonstrating in Italy in 1983, for withdrawal of the “Pershing” and “SS-20” missiles which were then palpably threatening nuclear war in Europe.
And in the appearance on Sunday of three new articles in TASS about Diane Sare’s Independent Presidential candidacy—one of which quotes her calling herself a student mentored by Lyndon LaRouche—there is the evidence of a “LaRouche card” being played for peace and sovereign cooperation between the United States and Russia.
Sare is now campaigning nationally and being covered internationally—as, indeed, Jose Vega has been at earlier moments—and clearly knows what must be said to a Russian audience about what is happening in the United States, if there is to be a chance for peace.
(Among other things Diane Sare spoke to TASS about, was great infrastructure projects like those of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). She emphasized: “Collaborating with Russia on projects of mutual interest, such as the Bering Strait Tunnel or space exploration, could be very beneficial.” And we find below a new, peer-reviewed and comprehensive study of China’s BRI, which compares 197 nations’ progress from 2000 to 2023, and finds the BRI has improved economic productivity and stability in those which have participated in it.)
Obviously, the Schiller Institute is now presented with a tremendous opportunity to throw momentum into this new chance for peace, by continued circulation of the international letter to Pope Leo; and now also by mobilizing to draw a big audience for the September 11, 25th-anniversary-of-9/11 Beethoven and Brahms concert.
The same Diane Sare whom TASS is reporting upon as a wise student of Lyndon LaRouche, is also a founder of the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus holding that concert, and which was formed in 2014 to try to restore peace to New York CIty.
We can and should mobilize with the Chorus, to pack it. Beethoven, after all, at least once described himself as a new name for peace.
