AWSISA CONFERENCE TO LOOK TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE WATER AND SANITATION SECURITY IN AFRICA

The Association of Water and Sanitation Institutions of South Africa (AWSISA) and Global South Water and Sanitation Dialogue 2025 is set to bring together more than 1,500 delegates from across Africa and beyond for a three-day event at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park from 9-12 November 2025.

The three-day symposium aims to connect leaders, experts, and innovators who work in the water and sanitation industryfrom policy to practice, this platform offers a real opportunity for tangible change.

The overarching topic for this year is “Towards Sustainable Water and Sanitation Security in Africa”. The theme speaks to the urgent need for long-term, inclusive solutions. Attendees will get front-row access to panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking sessions geared toward driving meaningful progress in water access and sanitation infrastructure.

Clean water and sanitation access

“This Dialogue is not just another event, it’s a space where ideas meet action,” says AWSISA Chairperson of the Board, Mr. Ramateu Monyokolo. Water and sanitation are fundamental human rights that underpin health, dignity, and development. “By uniting diverse perspectives from across Africa and the Global South, AWSISA fosters a collaborative environment that drives innovation, shared responsibility, and impactful solutions. Our
goal is to catalyse regional partnerships that yield tangible results, because the imperative for sustainable change is clear – and the time to act is now,”
he added.

Through our pan-African and Global South approach, AWSISA convenes a powerful coalition of voices, expertise, and experience. By working together, we can tackle complex challenges with collective ingenuity and accountability, driving meaningful impact that transforms lives and communities.

From local startups to international institutions, exhibitors will have the chance to showcase their work directly to decision-makers and potential partners. The event structure includes multiple opportunities for engagement, whether through dialogue sessions, networking spaces, or the dedicated exhibition floor.

According to the UN, more than 340 000 children under five-years-old die annually from diarrheal diseases due to poor sanitation, poor hygiene, or unsafe drinking water – that is almost 1000 per day

Attendees will have the chance to learn from sector leaders about what’s working in water and sanitation, gaining valuable insights into innovative approaches and real-world solutions. It’s also a prime opportunity to meet the right people, networking with government officials, innovators, and NGOs from across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

For organisations and businesses, the Dialogue offers a platform to share their solutions and showcase products and services to a highly engaged, targeted audience. Most importantly, delegates can grow their impact by walking away with practical knowledge,
