The Department of Employment and Labour’s Compensation Fund will host a series of Farm Employer and Farm Employee Workshops from 10 to 11 July 2026 in Thohoyandou, Limpopo Province, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) within the agricultural sector.
The workshops are aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding of COIDA among farm employers and employees, while promoting compliance with the Act to ensure the protection of workers against occupational injuries and diseases.
The engagements will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their respective rights, responsibilities and obligations under COIDA. Participants will also receive guidance on compensation benefits, claims procedures, employer registration requirements and the reporting of occupational injuries and diseases.
In addition, the workshops will serve as an important platform for dialogue between the Compensation Fund and stakeholders in the agricultural sector. Discussions will focus on challenges affecting the implementation of COIDA, claims administration and compliance within the sector, with the aim of identifying practical solutions and remedial measures to enhance service delivery and improve access to compensation benefits for affected workers.
