NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT PUTS MEASURES IN PLACE TO ADDRESS SERVICE DELIVERY CHALLENGES IN MAMUSA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

In a continued effort to address service delivery challenges through the accelerated service delivery programme (ASDP), Thuntsha Lerole Phase 4 Reloaded across the province, North West provincial government EXCO led by Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi recently provided various services to residents in Mamusa Local Municipality, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality.

As today’s learners are leaders of tomorrow, Premier Mokgosi handed over school furniture to 50 Pupils and 30 Teachers at Itshupeng primary School and subsequently 10 classrooms to Ikgomotseng primary school situated in Schwezer Reneke to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning at the school.

In addressing water challenge that is continuing to engulf residents in this municipality, Premier Mokgosi visited the bulk water project in Bloemhof road to hear about challenges that halt water supply in the area and directed that an intergovernmental meeting that must be convened to devise plans on how to augment the current temporary water provision solution with the district municipality as they hired ten tankers to provide clean drinking water to the residents of Mamusa. 

In ensuring that Breaking New Ground (BNG), Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) as it was previously known beneficiaries officially own houses that government built for them, Premier Mokgosi led the department of Human Settlements to hand over title deeds to 10 of 42 beneficiaries in Glaudina.

One of them is Maujapi Madito, a resident who was overjoyed to finally receive the title deed personalized in her name, saying that she was so worried aboutt the future of her children, fearing that if she passes on, they would not be able to inherit her property as they would not be able to produce an empirical evidence before the court of law should they be evicted from the House.

I was scared that when I die, my children will be left homeless, as they won’t have any proof that the house belongs to them if anyone claims that the house belongs to them”, she said.

Creating a space for Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to thrive as they play a critical role in providing services to the people, the Department of Social Development handed over R870 298.00 cheque to Thusanang Community center that offers skills, job opportunities and awareness on Gender Based Violence (GBV) amongst other services.

The department of Agriculture and Rural Development handed over agricultural support packages to local residents as part of the efforts to strengthen food security initiatives in the area.
