The following statement was released by the Patriotic Alliance (PA):
“Ever since GOOD secretary-general Brett Herron has been unable to return to Parliament as a Member of Parliament (because his party only got one seat in the last elections), he has clearly been sitting at home bored and scrolling through Facebook for things to talk about.
One of those things he claims to have discovered, like the online Sherlock Holmes he clearly believes he is, is that Patriotic Alliance (PA) Members of Parliament were recently on a trip to Israel.
We congratulate Brett for his ability to read public postings on social media, but he should not imagine that this was a great revelation on his part, considering that no one in the PA was ever trying to keep any trip to Israel a “secret”. Would Captain Obvious like to “reveal” to South Africa what the weather report for tomorrow will be in Cape Town, or the current price of petrol?
The senior leaders of the PA also had a trip to Israel in 2023, and were equally open and proud of it. The President of the PA, Gayton McKenzie, intends to take his children on holiday to the Holy Land as soon as time can be found for it.

The Patriotic Alliance’s leadership has therefore never made a secret of their support for Israel, as well as our support for peace between Israel and Palestine. Anyone who may have missed this fact is either living under an extremely large rock, or has an extremely small brain.
We continue to call for the release of the hostages that the Hamas terror group took from Israel, and for the war to end.
The PA became part of the Government of National Unity with its policy positions and political opinions well known. We have stood firm even in local government in Johannesburg against the renaming of Sandton Drive to Leila Khaled Drive.
If our politics don’t please members of tiny parties like GOOD, there is little we can do to fix that, nor would we even want to try.“
