RUSSIA EMBASSY HOSTS A “SPECIAL ART AND MOVIE” EXHIBITION

The Embassy of Russia in South Africa held a special twofold art and movie cultural event.

The event kicked off with the inauguration of the 10th Andrei Stenin international press photo contest exhibition, featuring works from Russia, South Africa, China, India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Syria, Italy, and more.

South Africa holds the record for the number of the contest roadshow exhibitions outside Russia. Thanks to active media promotion, photographers from South Africa regularly participate and win in it,” Russian Ambassador Roman Ambarov pointed out at the opening of the exhibition.

The function continued with the movie screening, which introduced the guests to “The Flying Ship” (2024) feature film based on the 1979 Soviet cartoon. The viewers, including representatives of South Africa authorities, academic and media community, diplomats, Russian universities’ alumni, and others, appreciated the aesthetics of Russian folk tales, folklore and legends by which the story was inspired.

As part of the event, Ambassador Roman Ambarov awarded the winner of the Embassy’s online quiz held in commemoration of Russian Diplomat’s Day (February 10th)
