Glad to see that South African cherries have gained access to the broader Chinese market! Today, an important and mutually beneficial protocol was signed, paving the way for South African cherries to enter the Chinese market for the first time. This will not only benefit cherry farmers and exporters in SA, but also allow more Chinese consumers to enjoy these delicious South African fruits.

Let’s continue to deepen agricultural cooperation and work together for a better life for our two peoples!

Protocol of phytosanitary requirements for export of fresh cherries from South Africa to China between the Department of Agriculture of the Republic of South Africa and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China was signed in Beijing on 8 September 2026.
