The Department of Employment and Labour wishes to officially inform all the clients, stakeholders, and community members that the prohibition notice that was imposed on the Soweto Labour Centre (situated at No. 2 Khumalo Road, Orlando West) has been formally lifted.
This follows a rigorous re-inspection conducted by the Department’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Inspectors, who have verified that the building’s health hazards have been fully rectified in compliance with the OHS Act.
Consequently, full on-site operations and face-to-face services at the Soweto Labour Centre will officially resume this Monday, 02 November 2026 at 07:30.
The Department unreservedly apologises for the inconvenience caused by this temporary closure. We deeply appreciate your patience, support, and understanding as we undertook the necessary measures to ensure a safe, dignified, and fully compliant environment for both our valued clients and staff members.
Clients are reminded that while physical operations resume on Monday, the Department’s online portals remain 100% functional for seamless digital applications and services.
Due to the fact that the office has been closed for a while, there will be a significant backlog of clients trying to get their issues sorted out on the first few days of reopening. Therefore, we kindly request our clients to exercise a little bit of patience with our frontline officials as we work diligently to clear these volumes.
We hope that this prompt resolution restores your confidence in our commitment to service delivery excellence and safe institutional practices.
